1911 sear spring

I was trying to put new Wilson Combat springs on my G.I. model SA 1911. I was somewhere in the process of installing a new main spring when the sear spring popped out. So far I've been able to put it in about fifty different ways except for the right way (the hammer won't lock back, but does have spring tension). What is the right way? Thanks for any help.

Lift the hammer strut out of the way, lay the hook on the bottom of the sear spring in the little cut for it, and then lay the sear spring down on top of the sear, disconnector, and trigger bow. Slide the mainspring housing in about 2/3rds of the way to hold the sear spriing in position and lower the hammer strut into position. Finish putting it together and all should be well.

I always have best luck by removing thumb safety/grip safety, placing sear spring in place, slip MSH in enough to hold sear spring and reinstalling grip safety/thumb safety

Thanks for all the responses. It turned out I had spent hours installing the spring the correct way over and over. In the end I just needed to work the thumb safety to get it to pop into place so the hammer could cock.
