1911 Question

How hard is it to install an ambi saftey on a 1911 that comes with a standard one? Most 1911s I see around here are not for us lefties, you see, and I don't want to spend hundreds extra on a custom job just to get a saftey I can use, all because the majority of the world's population is WRONG HANDED....

I would not suggest that you do it yourself, but if you are sure that's what you want to do.......you can get a book like Wilsons.

You can aslo remove the one in there now and compare it to the new one. Be careful not to remove to much metal, only do a little at a time and then put it in and check it.

There is a lot to it though to make it smooth and work right.

It isn't very difficult and many of the aftermarket ambi-safeties will just about drop in without any need of adjustment. Take a look at King's ambi-safety, it doesn't require that the right side grip panel be modified and replaces the stock sear pin with a hardened pin.
