1911 problems!?

I purchased a used S.A. 1911-A1 loaded from a private individual today. I discovered (after the fact) that the hammer falls everytime the slide is released using the slide release and my hand is on the grip safety. This is obviously a problem.

He advised me that he had a trigger job done on it and that it was light.

What do you think and what are my options for getting it fixed?

*Update*
I tested the gun by doing the following:
I dropped the slide on a loaded mad with my finger off the trigger. The gun fired. I am going to need a gunsmith. Any suggestions?

Anyone know a good gunsmith in southern Indiana?

Amateur gunsmithing 101...

Guess I'm smart enough to know what I "Don't Know"

I talked to our shop 1911 guru. Triggers on 1911's are something you need to understand before working on them.

going too light or the wrong adjustments can make them go full auto. He said "sounds cool, but trust me, it isn't" You're expecting one shot, but the gun climbs over the top toward your head. Makes life interesting.

He reset my Springfield from 8 1/4 # to a real crisp 3# in about 10-15 minutes. Should be easy to fix but your idea of a real gunsmith is the way to go, AND, after you get it back always start with 2 rounds only.

If the sear or hammer engagement surfaces are rounded the hammer would merely fall to half-cock. I believe the sear spring is weak or broken. My Kimber would double until I increased the tension on that spring.
