1911 Pistol Smith Recommendations

I posted recently that I purchased a Colt Officer's model Series 80. I'm thinking about treating myself to a tune up such as a new trigger group, dehorning and night sights. Who do you recommend from personal experiences?

The work you listed is fairly simple for most good smiths. Any of the reputable smiths can do that for you.
Here are some suggestions:
Brian Bilby: www.1911custom.com (he's got such a long backlog now, that I'm not sure if he's even taking any new work)

Well, these are just some of the more reputable smiths today. You really can't go wrong with any of these people.

You can also try Rock River Arms ( www.rockriverarms.com ) and the Springfield Custom Shop ( www.springfield-armory.com ). As you may know, they manufacture their own 1911s, but I believe that they will work on most other 1911s as well.
 
Wilson customized my Officer's Model and I'm very pleased. It goes "BANG!" first time, every time with ANYTHING I feed it. Excellent accuracy. Great trigger. I carry it every day.

Steve Clark Custom. He was the former head pistolsmith for Les Baer Custom and the shop supervisor and head pistolsmith for Wilson Combat. His reputation should speak for itself.

Right now he's building me a 1911 off a Rock River Slide and frame, Wilson Adjustable Combat night sights, Kart NM barrel, NM bushing, Videcki long trigger, etc etc and hard chrome finish.

Plus, I'm sending him my Les Baer, Ed Brown and Kahr MK9 for some fine tuning :)

I have had good experiences with Action Works in Chino Valley AZ. Don always stands behind his work, prices are reasonable and he has an immaculately clean CNC machine shop. (520) 636-1691
