1911 Negeative Sear Engagement

I got a PT1911 with negative sear engagement. Is negative sear engagement very bad? I would prefer neutral engagement.

I'm not sure if it is the sear or the hammer causing this - I was thinking of replacing the hammer and sear. Has anyone positively found out if a hammer/sear will drop in to this, or are the dimensions far off? Would I be better off bringing the gun in to a smith and having the hammer hook angles and sear angle tuned up?

I don't know how near 'the blueprint' the Taurus is. I guess you could order a basic GI sear and hammer and give it a whirl, before dropping $$ on hi-zoot parts.

I've tinkered with 11's a long time and negative sear engagement is to be avoided. If you're not getting hammer follow-down, you probably will at some point. If the gun came used with that condition as a result of a trigger job, I'd rebuild the fire control mechanism starting with full-dimension pins and work my way out from there with a good quality hammer, disconnector & sear- presuming your gun has GI pin hole spacing and dimensions.

Keep us posted on how it sorts out.
