1911 models in 40S&W

Looking for some suggestions. Looking to make the 40S&W to 10mm conversion. Now, let's find a reasonably priced 1911 in 40S&W......Who out there makes such a beast? I like Springfield Armory, but erally did want the additional cost of a Stainless Steel gun. Looked at ParaOrd's P16-40, but don't really want to pay $55+ per magazine. Have not checked on Kimber yet, but from visiting gun shops I notice they are about the highest priced 1911's I can find (besides the customs). NOTE: Yes I looked at the Witness 10mm, and it still has not been ruled out. Glocks......sorry, not interested. Yeah, great shooting, accurate, reliable, but I'm an old 1911 fanatic.

Other suggestions?

I had Baer build up a really nice 10mm 1911 on his Heavyweight Monolith frame. For an extra $200 he would fit a 40 barrel to the slide, but I figured whats the point. By the way, the 1.5" guarantee is really worth it!

Brian, You have a Delta Elite????

Tell me you have a slightly used Delta Elite that you are willing to part with and I'm not competing with the National Smithsonian's budget for the purchase price. I'd be very interested in a Delta Elite! Unfortunately, I know how much they when for new, and not willing to pay 150% MSRP to have one.

I've seen blue Delta Elites as low as $550-650 lately. Colt prices across the board seem to be getting more reasonable.

Kimber makes 1911 pistols in .40S&W. That would be your best bet for making a new 10mm IMHO. Pretty much just having the chamber reamed and heavier recoil spring (22-24lb).
