I have a silly question, I have two brand new Mec GAR 1911 45 acp, 8 round magazines, and 2 new ED BROWN magazines with the same specs, and was wondering which is the better magazine?

Well, the Mec Gar costs less and you know who made it.
The Brown has a Centerfold Gunsmith label on a subcontracted product.
The real question is, do they feed? If they all do, the next thing is to shoot with them an equal and large number of times and see which lasts longer.

The few Ed Brown 1911 magazines I own were made by Check-Mate and have been excellent. I don't remember if I own any Mec-Gar 1911 magazines, but they are generally regarded as decent quality.
The real answer is ... the magazines that work !
And that may vary from gun to gun ... 1911's can be picky about what magazines they like and what magazines they don't like .
My AMT Hardballer loves Mec-Gar 7 round nickle plated !
It hates cheap made in China magazines and will not play with them at all !
