1911 ... how to choose a parts supplier?

It all seemed so simple ... I got this 1927 Sistema and now there are a couple of accessories that I want so I looked around and found Wilson's web site ... but then I found King's site ... then there is McCormick's line!

Now I'm just about speachless and paralyzed!

If you want to upgrade and add mags to collection, how do you choose from all the options?

If you want to replace the sear, hammer and trigger ... how do you choose?

Beavertail safety?
Sights?
Grips?

I think I'm beginning to understand how the word addiction fits into this 1911 scene!

Is there a "sure bet" product line?
Is there a "best value" (good quality for a reasonable price) line?

Thanks so much!

Go pick up some guns w/ the parts you are considering. See how they actually feel on a gun. Also, talk to some gunsmiths. See which parts are most recommended. Project guns...truly a labor of love ;)

You don't need to stick with one vendor, of course. The Colt I'm currently working on has a Wilson beavertail, Brown hammer and sights, and McCormick thumb safety. Simply choose the parts that look good with your project piece. They'll all need some sort of fitting anyway so compatibility won't matter.

If you want the best you WON'T use just one company. If you HAVE to stick to one product line, I'd say Ed Brown. All their stuff is first-class.

When choosing aftermarket parts for my 1911 pistols I start with the Ed Brown catalogue. Best parts available, bar none.

OH..if you want a shock..go to www.brownells.com

there are billions of 1911 parts..

most are pretty good too..most people will find a favorite and stick with them..
I don't think you'll go wrong with:
Brown
Wilson
EGW
Cylinder and Slide
Kings
Caspian

There are a lot more..but these work for most.

More an inquiry than anything else...doesn't Kings make the parts for Wilson? Some where along my travels of gun shops & ranges, it was relayed to me that either Kings makes parts for Wilson or that the same company makes the Kings and Wilson parts. Is that true?
