I just got my Kimber custom S/S for Christmas
Whoo hooo! This is my first 1911, so I need a little advice.

1- Is it safe to use Gunscrubber on it? Manual says to avoid solvent on the S/S

2- How often do I need to change springs?

3- Where can I get instructions to detail strip it like Glockmeisters tech resources for Glocks?

4- Is it safe to dryfire regularly?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the world of happy Kimber owners! I'm gonna leave the answer to #1 to somebody with more knowledge of stainless. I use GS on my oxide Classic Custom.
#2. If you are going to shoot hotter loads you might want to try an 18.5 lb Wolff recoil spring. Change any spring when it's not doing it's job! I have about 4000 rounds on my recoil spring and it's doing fine.

4. Dryfire the hell out of it!

I hope this helps...

I don't know about the S/S in your Kimber but I use GunScrubber all the time on my S&W M-66's. I can't think of any reason why they would say you can not use solvents on the SS. If the solvent hurts the SS, I would not want to be using it because that is some real bad s***.
