my dept. is considering to let us carry 1911's for a primary duty weapon.can someone help me find studies on how safe it is to carry.possibly any dept. policy for depts. that currently carry them.anything would help. we are currently trying to convince our chief to let us carry them.

Also, try some organizations that approve it for use such as the FBI HRT, Los Angeles Police Department (SWAT and Select Uniform units), Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office (SWAT), and Texas Department of Public Safety. Numerous other organizations have the 1911 on their approved list.
