1911 drum magazine

I have seen drum magazines for 1911 model pistols for sale at gun shows in my area and have concidered buying one to play around with but I dont want to get one if they arent reliable . Does anyone have any experences with these or these good or bad ?

They are by Thomas or Taylor, don't remember which. There were two models made. One has the 'tower' mounted in the center of the drum, but the more desirable is the second version where the tower is mounted to the side of the drum. It has proven to be more reliable. Do not pay too much for this mag. I have seen people trying to get over $200, they can be found for $135, which is still too high IMHO. They are very popular for use in the Marlin camp carbines.
