1911 ambi safety

I recently acquired a Ruger SR 1911 in a trade. i am a lefty and am looking for a recommendation on where to buy an ambi safety for it. Wilson Combat or someone else ?

I have tried Wilson parts in my 1911 and have been very pleased with the ones I have been able to install. The parts I have that I haven't installed yet require more experience than I have right now. Wilson has its own quality control and any part that doesn't meet their standards does not go to a customer. I waited for 3 months before they shipped a thumb safety because their supplier was supplying inferior parts and they would not ship until the supplier matched Wilson's standards. Most of the big name 1911 makers offer parts and have very similar standards. Remember that you may have to alter the right side grip panel or buy new grips designed for ambi safeties.

I have used both styles of Wilson's "conventional" ambi safties, the tactical and the high-ride, and they're good parts. I don't know that I would go to the expense of their Bulletproof ambi, which is really nice but costs way north of $100.
I prefer the shape of the levers on the tactical, as they ride a little higher on the frame than most ambis, but more people seem to prefer the levers with the "knuckle" in the middle that allows the lever to ride a little lower.
If you are going to pay a 'smith to install it, ask if they have a preference.
I used to really favor the Cylinder & Slide ambi, and have three of those in use, but they require a lot of cosmetic work to look good, and that shouldn't have to be part of the installation process.
The Kimber ambi is a nice part, and doesn't require modification of the grip panel, as the lever on the right side is retained by a modified hammer pin.

I like the ed brown ambi, {I no longer use ambi's, I actually removed most of the ones I installed, after I figured out they get in the way more than they help anything {if you are right handed of course}....

The ed brown units fit nice and adapt well, the wilson is also a nice unit..
