Wise folks of TFL:

What parts do I need to change out in a 1911 - Para 38 super to convert it to 9mm - ??

Barrel? Recoil rod and spring? firing pin? Extractor?

Is this difficult?

Also can I use the same magazines or no?

Barrel.
.38 recoil spring is probably ok, Colt uses 14 lb for both.
.38 extractor might work on 9mm, might require adjustment or replacement. I have had one each way.
.38 magazine might work on 9mm, the right ones do in my guns but if your PO is double stack I couldn't say.

I have three custom 9mm guns built using Para's as the base gun and feed these guns using the Para double stack 38 super mags.
As Jim stated you will need a 9mm barrel. You can tune a 38 super extractor to feed and extract 38 super, 9mm and 9x23.

Here's two of my 9mm's. Now that I no longer shoot competition I'm thinking of pulling the barrel on the long slide gun and chambering it to 9x23. I believe it would make one heck of a nice gun and round to hunt with.
