I was told there are many ways to rig the 1907 sling for shooting support. I can think of three. Loop Sling, No-Pulse loop sling and Hasty. Can any one add to the list. Links and or videos would be nice.
Thanks

There are several ways that the 'loop' is configured depending on the position of the frog and keepers. I like one keeper on each side of the frog with the hooks facing up. Another way is to place both keepers below the frog with the frogs hooks facing down. Of all of the possibilities the key to successful use is to place the frog as close to the arm as possible. Tight keepers with the frog close to the arm insures that the sling won't loosen during firing. It may take a little practice to get the most out of each method but I don't think one method is better then the other.
The Turner Sling website shows the conventional rigging . Turner Sling.com
Ray Vin.com shows the keepers below the frog style.

The "no pulse" method was big with the Marine Corps shooting team back in the 50's through 70's from what I've read of their marksmanship training.

The theory is that the loop cuts off circulation to the support hand so that the heartbeat doesn't shake the rifle. I know plenty of shooters got bruises to show for the technique.

If you want to isolate the rifle from the heartbeat the Army recommends a shooters glove. Something thick enough to act as padding. That glove on the support hand combined with the trigger hand glove means the only skin touching the rifle is the cheek on your face.

Anyways, I don't recommend cutting off the pulse unless it actually translates to tighter groupings and higher scores for you.

what is your opinion/ experience with the no-pulse configuration?
The current 'no-pulse' set up is a little complicated at first. It patterns after the cuff type sling smallbore shooters used to use. But as with all of the other methods practice will make rigging it easier. The 'no-pulse' can be put on the arm and then attached to the rifle. Personally I like to have the sling on the rifle at all times. I tried the 'no-pulse but found no advantage over my favorite set up.
