I like the split in the forum.

But I want to double check something quick.

I like the Gibbs Rifle repo of the 1903A4.

Does it require lower pressure ammo like the Garand?

No Sir,

The lower pressure/lighter bullets/med burning powder required by the Garand is do to it;s gas system, not the strength of the action.

The Post Heat Treatment (post 800,000 on the Springfield's) are exceptionally strong actions, as is the 1917 Enfields.

However, I keep my loadings the same across the board for my '06s. I shoot the same ammo in my Garand, 1903A3, 1917 Enfield, and Model 70 Vietnam Era Sniper Rifle Clone.

But that's just my preference.
 
To build on what's on the Gibbs' site-

When I contacted Gibbs re: these rifles, I was told that the receivers were de-milled by having the mag selector switch welded; Gibbs has cut the weld.

On some photos of the rifles, I have seen where these were cut, on others it's not very noticeable at all.

The heat of the welding should not have locally affected heat-treat adversely
 
I think its wonderfull that Gibbs is Restoring these Drill Rifles to working condition. It never made sense to me in the first place, that our Government chose the good strong 1903 A3s to make Drill Rifles out of.
They should have used the early single heat treat unsafe regular 1903s from Rock Island and Springfield.
Ive got a 1903 A3 with a two groove barrel, and its a fine target rifle.
its very Accurate.
