1891 Mauser carbine proof mark question

I have a very nice 1891 carbine that has a stamp on the barrel I can't find any info on. It is the capital letters AG in a shield. Anyone have any idea what it stands for? I'd upload pics but even when I make them real small, it says the file is too large to upload? Don't know why, have had no problem with the same pics on another forum.

I think it has to do with Aktien-Gesellschaft. German for "public limited company". As in 'Co., Inc.'.
Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken, A.-G. in 1891. No Mauser AG until 1897.

I used to know but now i'll have to Google-fu it,,,lol.

Well I googled and came up with this,, some fella said it's an Inspectors stamp and the AG in shield means and I quote ,,,
"Arsenal de Guerra" or War Arsenal, and would indicate an arsenal rebuilt.

Aha. That makes sense and likely explains why it looks to be in such nice shape. Thanks for the help guys.
