1888 Turk Mauser Commission Bolt

I've managed to disassemble the bolt easily enough, but on reassembly, I have a question.

When screwing on the cocking piece cap (or whatever the proper name is) on reassembly, the flat end of the firing pin doesn't come close to getting flush with the cap. It screws on 4 or 5 turns, clicks with the safety and that's all she wrote.

I've spent quality time studying the parts to see what I may be missing, but I'm at a total loss.

Does the blunt end of the FP come flush with the cocking piece cap? I didn't notice when I took it apart. I assume it did if it's anything like the Mosin bolt.

Thank you for your help!

Are you pushing the safety in while you screw on the cocking piece? There is spring under the safety so you have to push in on the safety to get the firing pin nut on all the way. Also make sure the bolt is in the decocked position.
