1860 army military vs 1860 civilian

Hello, jhamrick. I believe the military models had the extended screw heads on either side of frame & pocket milled in bottom of back strap for the detatchable shoulder stock.
The Colt 1980 era re-makes of the 1860 army .44 percussion have this feature.

Thanks Hawg. I only seen the ones at Cabelas, and they don't have the cutout. But now that you mention it, I have seen 1860's on GB for sale under "Three Screw 1860 Army" before and never noticed why they were called that.
I gotta put one of those on my wish list. ;)

My bad, the recoil shield cuts do denote a martial pstol. There were some civilian guns with the notched grip strap however.
