I can't seem to find any load data in any of my books for 185gr swc for 45acp using either Bullseye or Win 231. Any data you have would greatly appreciated.

Shoot, I have a hard time finding 185gr. SWC...

My Hodgdon "manual" lists Hornady JSWC.
COAL1.135"
231- 5.0gr 762fps 5.9gr 906fps

My Alliant reloaders guide does not list 185gr. SWC for Bullseye.

Hodgdon's RDC shows loads for JSWC @ 1.135" OAL with 231 and F150 primer.
• start load of 5.0 gr for 762 fps @ 12.0k CUP
• max load of 5.9 gr for 906 fps @ 15.8k CUP

Just a guess, but:
One reason the 185 swc might be hard to find is the lack of popularity.
The 200 swc H&G version has proven to be superior in most .45s.
The 185 (and even lighter bullets) was primarily for increasing the effectiveness of compensated pistols.
Doubt if anyone is interested in them these days.

There have been several barge loads of 185 gr SWCs, usually the H&G No 130 shot over light loads of Bullseye. 3.5 to 4.0 grains of Bullseye was the usual approach. Might have to use a lighter recoil spring or increase the load a bit.

For target loads, 4.0 to 4.5 of Bullseye. I like 4.2 with a 200 gr cast SWC, seems better than the 185 gr.
4.0 may not function with a 16 lb recoil spring.

Last year I found a coffee can full of 185gr LSWC at my LGS. I gave him $20.00
for them. I've been loading them with 4.0gr Bullseye at 1.15 OAL and they're very accurate. However I have no idea what mold they were made with.
