Anybody know right off the top of there head the bore and grove diameter of Remington 1858 Army? I would also like to know the twist rate, I'm thinking about building a new barrel for mine.

If you have your choice on the twist, make it a 1 in 16 or 1 in 20. I think the
twist on the Pietta and Uberti is 1 in 30, which is way too slow. Someone else
can answer the dia. questions.

yeah but the slow twist cuts down on leading. rather than trying to spin it to fast causeing the bullet to "strip" in the bore. I might be talking out my a*s but from what i read it makes sence

Ya I think I will probably use a 1 in 20 or 22, that seems to be what a lot of muzzle loading pistol barrels are I just need to figure out bore and groove dia.

You might think about this. Bore the chambers in the cylinder .450 dia.
The groove dia of the barrel "The widest part" .448. The bore "measuring
across the lands" .440 dia. If I did this right, this should give you a depth
of .004 on each side of the barrel. You would use a .454 dia ball.
This is based on my custom .36 cal Remmy. My chamber dia. is .357. I use
a .360 ball. My groove dia. is .355. Hope this helps. Oh my rate of twist
is one turn in 14.
