I have a Smith & Wesson 6 shot revolver that I inherited from my dad. On the top of the octagonal barrel is "Smith & Wesson, Springfield Mass." Around the cylinder is "Patented April 3, 1855 July 5, 1859 & Dec 18, 1860" On the bottom of the grip is what I assume to be the serial number, 5591. It is .32 rimfire. After doing some research on the web, I have seen enough photos and descriptions that I'm fairly certain it's some variant of the Model 2, but would like to see if any of you guys can enlighten me further as to the details and particulars of this pistol. Perhaps an approximate date of manufacture and maybe some idea as to approximate value. My dad got it when his brother, my uncle, passed away. My uncle had gotten it from his dad, who had in turn gotten it from his dad. I'm planning on making sure my son or my grandson gets it at some point. I've got a couple of photos I can provide if need be. Thanks in advance for your help.
