180 Rule Question

In USPSA can you move from the left to right with the muzzle pointed straight ahead of you and not break the 180 rule? While it may not be wise, is it even possible to do? Or as soon as you turn sideways is it over?

It'd almost certainly result in a DQ regardless of what the rules say.

No you can't. It doesn't matter where the shooter is pointed, because bullets don't come out of the shooter. Bullets come out of the gun. The 180 rule applies to the direction in which the gun is pointed.

For every stage, there is a direction that is defined as "down range." Usually it is obvious, but not always. Direct your muzzle more than 90 degrees from down range, in either direction, and you have violated the 180 rule. It matters not which direction you are facing.
