It's a Model 689 .357mag, 6-shot. Discontinued by Taurus...>

I just picked up last week the 608SS ... Wanted an 8 shooter . I think it's based on the same frame. Taurus states that the actions on the 608's are "Hand fitted actions smooth as silk and crisp triggers right out of the box! " and they aren't kidding. One of the absolute best triggers out of the box I've ever felt.

Compared it to the S&W 627-5 at 2.5 times the price (I believe it's based on the same frame) ...

NO WAY IN HELL I could justify the extra $$$.

The trigger action on the Taurus was WAY BETTER . The S&W needed a trigger job ... way too tight. You'd blast the walls with that thing outta box DA at the range.

I fired about 300 .38spl , +p and .357 magnum rounds through it of various weights. SOLID. Recoil is minimal with the porting and sheer weight of the large frame.
