170gr Nosler RN Partition in a 30/06 case

I've given this bullet a lot of thought over the years for a 30/06 load, I no longer use a 30/30 for hunting and thought this combination would be hard to beat out to 200 yards using a model 70 Winchester Featherweight. I have both IMR4895 and IMR4064 powders using R-P cases and CCI primers, I thought I would use Nosler 180gr bullet data in 1/2 gr increments and see what happens!! If by chance someone has already tried this experiment I would be interested in your findings!! I happen to have 20 boxes (1000) of these bullets and it's about time to start using them!! William

Load them to 2600 fps or less and they will do everything you want them to do. Either of those powders will do it.

I think I will start at 45.0grs of IMR4895, oal 3.103, this is about .010" off the lands/rifling, kind of surprising the OAL is so short. This length seems to feed well, I haven't used my chrony for a couple of years, I want to see what kind of velocity this loading produces!! Just finished loading three rounds to fire tomorrow!! William
