ive been admiring an old remington sportsman 16 guage at a local shop for some time now. it has a lyman compensator with tubes, i would guesstimate about 60% finish. anyone know of any quirks these guns are known to have? i have shot an 11a 12 guage in trap league for 2 yrs and no problems so far- love those old humpbacks!! also any guess as to price? i've got them down to $175. thanks.

I own a Remington 16 guage "Sportsman".

My grandmother gave it to me when my grandpa died. I took it out for the first time last month. I was very pleased with how it shot. No problems at all with mine and it was kept in an attic, the worst place you can keep a gun, for many years. One in decent condition is worth about $250, so $175 sound pretty good!

I can speak for the 16 gauge experience, it's fun and easy to shoot with little recoil. It would make a good brush gun for grouse for tighter quarters. I'm not sure on the patterns the double barrel I had was a while ago so I forget I was a youngen... but that might say that it wasn't impressive enough for me to remember, but it was FUN! :D
