I recently acquired a 16 guage Browning auto loader that was my wifes grandfathers. I don't know anything about this shotgun except that it is old but was very well taken care of and is in working condition. If anyone has any info about these shotguns please post.

You may have the old model Auto-5 hump back shotgun, the oldest model in 16ga has a short chamber , as I remember it was 2 9/16" take it to your local smith and have it checked before you shoot it.

Chamber size is probly marked on the barrel.
disassemble forestock and check to see if the printed paper diagram is still there on the inside of the channel that shows the proper position of the washers and spring for both heavy and lighter loads. If not, then let us know and someone will shoot a jpeg of one or send you a copy etc.
Doesn't happen to say "sweet sixteen" on it??? Made in Belgium???
my favorite of the auto 5s. all of which were well made and reliable.
