H HammerBite New member Jul 9, 2008 #2 This is just a wild guess, but if Europeans specify chokes by the amount of restriction, in micrometers, then 169 would signify .007 inches, which is a bit tighter than skeet.

J Jim Watson New member Jul 9, 2008 #3 Braak! Wrong answer. Means the bore diameters are both 16.9mm and the barrels are choked. Probably made after 1924, maybe in 1897-1898. Which we could probably figure out from other proof marks and gun characteristics.
