will this load be good for hogs from 25 to 150 yards? i want a load that i can use for deer, hogs and the occasional black bear. i just got the 7mag so i have NO experience with this caliber, so any suggestions would be great. thanks

That would work fine for the game you described. I am assuming you are near top loads, but it really doesn't make a difference. The Accubond will hold together at velocity extremes and mushroom well even at low velocities.

Regardless of what you shoot them with, always take head/neck shots on hogs. I have shot several with my 7Mag and blew out their hearts and they still ran a good distance. With head or neck shots, they are usually DRT and you don't have to track them. Where I hunt hogs you can often shoot one and let them lay, and the others will come back out in a few minutes allowing another shot. If you don't drop them where they are standing though, you have to get out of your stand to go and find them and you scare the rest of them off.. This has been my experience. I guess the most important thing is to practice a lot and be certain of your shooting abilities.

Once you reach a point where you are a decent shot, you can head/neck shoot them with a .223 and they will fall right there.

Accubond Story

:)True with the pigs. My mate and i claimed a couple of pigs last hunting trip, two of which were taken with a .300wm. The biggest boar was shot clean through the chest at about 150yrds with a 180gr Accubond. The pig dropped on the spot, as we were spotting the other pig the first one got up and ran about 100yds to the edge of the wheat field, then dropped dead. I couldnt believe my eyes, after claiming the second pig we took a look at the bullet destruction.

First pig had an exit hole the size of a tennis ball on far shoulder, how it got up and did a 100yd bolt had me stumped. Pure adrenelin i guess, if pig had of got to cover it would have been hard to track at night.

I have a photo of them in hunt forums under Outback Australia, its the brindle one. Not the biggest pig in the world about 85kg/ 170lb but a tough bugger.

One thing though you can hear an almighty slap when the projectile hits its game, and your loads will take pigs and other out to 400yds or as far as you can shoot true to yourself.

seems like alot of money to spend to kill a pig.
even if you see "the pig" a core-loc in the right place will kill him better than an accubond in the wrong place.
what does the gun shoot best?

I have killed pigs with all kinds of firearms, bows, and even a few knives. everyone talks about "How hard it is to take down a wild boar". I have never experience this situation. A shot placed in the boiler room with either a decent sized bullet or an arrow (or even a knife) will almost always ground a hog within 30-40yds even on the biggest. Have even dropped them with a .22-250. Coyotes are harder imo to bring down than a hog. My primary hog setup is a Marlin 336 with 150gr handloads, and haven't lost one yet (and that a LOT of hogs). Yeah, your 7mag is MORE gun than you need if anything.

you can kill a pig everytime with a 22mag and shoot him anywere you want.
as long as you want to shoot him behind the ear.
