14/17 Enfield question

Okay - a friend has located a sporterized Enfield chambered in .300 Winmag...

I want me one of those "I'm standing 10 feet away from a very peeved griz" guns.

Ergo, I'm figuring on as large a caliber as I can have the thing reliably feed. Going to mount a 1.5-2x-type long eye relief scope on it, or maybe just go with express-type sights. While I have no plans to go to Africa at this point, heck, it'd be interesting...

So, what do y'all think my options are? I'll probably keep the .300 Winmag barrel, but I'd also like something a LOT heavier.

A-Square used US Enfield actions for calibers up through .500; although I don't know what brass their propietary round was based on. The British makers used them for .416 Rigby, etc. after the War and Magnum Mausers were no longer available. So the sky seems to be the limit. But get a good gunsmith, you want a bearbumper to be reliable.
