Picture added - $13.95 completely transformed my LC9,,,

I hit a small gun show Saturday morning,,,
It was a small show put on by badshot-gunshow.

I didn't see anything at the show that I couldn't live without,,,
But on the way home I stopped at a nice gun store,,,
They actually had 333 round packs of .22 LR,,,
But they had it priced for $30.00 a pack,,,
For 9 cents a round I decided to pass.

I noticed they had some grip sleeves and found a Pachmayer for my LC9,,,
It is very thin and only adds a bit to the swell on both sides.

I have become more enamored of my LC9 in recent times,,,
I decided to take the sleeve and give it a try,,,
I'm very glad that I did.

I have small hands but even for me,,,
The LC9 grip is a bit thin.

This sleeve filled the palm swell perfectly for me,,,
It really only needed a slight bit of padding,,,
This turned out to be the perfect amount.

So I spent most of the day looking at guns and smelling the oil,,,
And I made a good pistol better with a small investment.

It was a good day.

That's a thought... My fiance has issues with some of the small pistols. Even in 9mm she does not like to shoot them. The last was a SCCY, that she hated the recoil on.

A rubberized grip sleeve may increase comfort for her...

So thanks for the idea, it just never clicked in my head to try one.

And good that you found something to make you like your pistol even more.

You have a lot of good gun days, Aarond, and always enjoyable to read about them.

My experience with those grips sleeves is a bit different than yours. Those sleeves, or even full grip panels, when they include a palm swell, they just drive me bonkers. Something about any kind of a palm swell just does not mesh with my shooting hand.

All across my array of handguns, it's almost hard to believe how many of them wear Pachmayr of some flavor or another. I mean, I should count 'em up. It's a lot. My handguns look like they all jumped out of a time machine from 1987. It's Pachmayr everywhere. But one set of Pach's on one of those handguns just gets my goat! It's a very nice Smith & Wesson Model 39-2. Great gun, solid piece of history, mine built in 1977, but it came with Pachmayr grip panels instead of the original wood. And while I love Pachmayr grips, I do NOT like these. These... have palm swells. :( And as far as I can tell, Pachmayr didn't offer a Model 39 grip without palm swells.

I'm going to have to replace them because of that.

But I can tell you what has worked for me very much like the Pachmayr grip sleeve has worked for you and your LC-9, and that's a short length of bicycle innertube. Yes, it does not look fantastic, but then... we could have a discussion about how an aftermarket grip sleeve looks also. ;) On a first generation Ruger P-95, the innertube gives me exactly what I need. Some grippyness with no palm swell. The P-95 is a good, tough, UGLY handgun, but the earliest models have a plastic grip body that could have been carved out of a bar of soap. There's no grippyness on those early ones.

Oh..... I was hoping you bought a nice can of black spray paint..... :)

Anyway.... I've thought about buying one of those sleeves for my LCP just give it a little more thickness.

Sounds like you are sold on it Aarond, I'll check on out next time I'm a gunshop.

Oh Kreyzhorse,,,

Oh Kreyzhorse,,,
I like my Lilac LC9.

Makes the girls think I'm a sensitive guy. ;)

I did buy a Pachmayer grip sleeve for it,,,
The slight increase in grip width is great for me.

You would probably like it because it covers more of the lilac polymer. :p

My friends chuckle at my purple pistol,,,
But I outshoot most of them,,,
So I get to laugh back.

I have one on my LC9 and it works great!

And Kreyzhorse... Hogue has a really good one for the LCP that costs about ten bucks. It really makes that little .380 nice to shoot.

I have a Hogue on my LCP,,,

I have a Hogue on my LCP,,,
The one where you have to tap out a frame pin,,,
Then install the grip adaptor and reinstall the frame pin.

That took a mediocre grip and made it a very nice grip,,,
I don't remember exactly what I paid for it,,,
But it was less that $20.00 with tax .

I would rather have a gun with a too small grip,,,
Because it can always be built up,,,
Even if it's a tape wrap.

I've seen many instances where a bicycle inner tube was used for just that,,,
The old phrase "necessity is the mother of invention" is a truism.

I am glad that the LCP hogue grip worked for you. When I had tried it the hogue seemed to move a bit when the firearm was held. Drove me crazy. Very unsettling. Tried to adjust my grip a little, to see if it would change, it didn't. Lasted about 20 min then I gave up. I think if I did try another grip mod I would want an adhesive tape style like talon grip. Or a bolt on style. Good for you though.. it's great when we find a nice inexpensive mod. :D

I have the same grip on my Sig P238. I have fairly long fingers (I can palm a men's basketball) and the trigger reach felt too short on the gun. the grip adds a little distance to the backstrap and overall fills my hand a bit more, thereby making the trigger reach feel a little better too. The gun doesn't have a lot of recoil anyway, but the grip does make it more comfortable and controllable. And it still seems trim enough to not compromise concealability too much.

I'd tried a Hogue slip-on grip on a different gun previously. It wasn't bad, but the Pachmayr seems a little cushier and slips less.

The Hogue grip I have, has the pin that holds it on the top, like the one aarondhgraham has. They don't move around at all.

The one I have on my LC9 is a Pachmayr grip sleeve, but I don't have any problems with it moving around either.

Yup, I agree with you. Those slip on grip sleeves can really help. Back when the Wife had an LC9 I got her one of those as well. Also got her a mag loader as she was having a lot of difficulties with it. Unfortunately we ended up selling it anyway. I thought the slip on did make a good bit of difference though.

Pics of the Pachmayer Grip Sleeve,,,

Here she is,,,

Like I said, it's minimal,,,
But for my hand it really improved the feel.

I had a S&W 9mm compact that the grips was way to small for my hand.
I wrapped the grip with electrical tape and pulled a Hogue slip on sleeve with finger groves over the tape.
Took a gun I could not shoot and turned it into a gun I could shoot..
