Who makes 124gr ammo that is egual to the standard military ammo?

SodaPop, if you're talking about the standard ball ammo, then the various companies make it.

I've fired thousands of rounds of Federal 124 gr. ball through Beretta 92FS, and had no problem at all. I imagine the other companies have about the same specs and quality.

FWIW. J.B.

I was told that the Military uses a higher pressure round than what most civilian ammo shoots.

Winchester
9mm NATO
124 gr Full Metal Jacket
Q4318

Says on the box: "...Use only in modern 9mm firearms in good condition. These cartridges are loaded to military velocity and pressure which is higher than 9mm lugercartridges: average pressure is 10% higher than industry standard pressure for 9mm luger...."

I've put approximately 400 rounds through my Beretta 92FS with no ill effects as yet, and 150 rounds through a Glock 19 ok. A noticeable difference compared to commercial ammo. Does seem to be slightly more accurate. Does have a different point of impact compared to commercial ammo I've used (Speer Lawman 124 gr).

Sportsman's Guide sells NATO 9mm ammo. It's made by Winchester as posted above. i wouldn't use too much of it in your 92FS if you don't have to; it wears the gun faster.

I'd assume that!! I am experimenting with lots of different ammo right now and I figured I should try the stuff the Military uses.

thats cool, keep us updated on how it all turns out. i'm interested to know which loads a 92 won't work well with.

I'm looking for power and for the flattest shooter. I tried some 135g or 136gr I forget exactly Hyrda-Shoks that I wasn't to crazy about and I fired some 124gr American Eagle and 115gr American Eagle Yesterday. I could here a total difference in each round I assume because one is subsonic and the other is not. I've read that the Military rounds were not SubSonic and I knew that there are more powerful 124gr rounds out there than the American Eagle. I'm sure you know that I have had no jamming of any sort or complications in anyway with the gun. My Colt 1991 Failed 165gr and 185gr Hydra-Shoks. They were accurate but they jammed in the gun.

Fed and Win sell ammo loaded to mil-spec levels, (max pressure of US M882 is 36,250 psi, over std max of 35,000 psi, but under the SAAMI +P max of 38,500) but why bother? The USA, American Eagle, Lawman/Blazer, UMC, PMC, S&B, etc works fine, is cheaper, and is easier on the gun.

The difference between std stuff and +P as far as handling/recoil is negligible as far as training purposes too.

Fiocchi's "Combat" ammo is as good/better than the mil-spec stuff anyway IMO. A 123 FMJ/TC at about 1250 fps. Might be nice to have some on hand, but I can't see the sense of shooting that stuff all the time either.

I concur with Broken Arrow on the Fiocchi "combat" load, it's the only thing I put through my 92F. The 92F tends to be my "desert gun" (as opposed to the streets, home, etc.). Consequently I chose to optimize range and accuracy, and this load seems to be the champ within those parameters.

I'm not familiar with that ammo can you tell me a little more about it ?

Hmmm, I'm afraid I can't add too much more more SodaPop. As BrokenArrow said, 123gr Truncated Cone, stepping out at about 1250 fps. I have a friend who runs an ammo store that specializes in bulk/economy sales. He opined an Italian bullet might work better in an Italian pistol (I know, kinda lame, but it works). Careful observation of the ogive of this bullet reveals it has a discernably longer surface that engages the rifling before it begins its "truncation" towards the nose of the bullet. This is just my observation/opinion. To be very honest, I havn't seen it for sale lately, and my ammo dealer friend did admonish me to stock up. Perhaps that's why you are not familiar with it. I do not carry my Beretta on a daily basis, so I haven't had occasion to stock up lately. As I mentioned, it seems to be quite accurate in my 92F. I do purchase other 9mm Ammo, including the aforementioned 124gr Winchester; but this is mostly for my Mini-Uzi
