assuming the guns have the same weight and size, which would you go with for home defense and/or combat a 12 ga or a 20 ga. the 12 is more powerful, and the 20 kicks less. what's your oppinion?
Combat and HD are two very different missions. One your activly seeking a bad guy, the other your mostly waiting him out (if you've done your tactical planning).
I guess a better question to ask would have been is a 20 ga adaquete for defense. i am concidering using a semi auto shotgun for both house defense and defending the woods around my house should the need arise, and i wasn't sure if the 20 ga would be able to get the job done. I am not of small stature, and can handle recoil, so my only concern was the firing rate.
I have used the 20 ga for HD for over 25 years and feel very comfortable with it. If you want to know about power and rate of fire go to a range ,set up a chunk of 3/4 inch plywood and blast away !!!!see which one smacks your fancy....also remember the 20 will be easier to handle at 3:15 AM when you are half asleep and joe creep is in your house. I also use rubber buckshot loads for the first shot as it won't penetrate sheetrock walls and hurt friendlies, next comes rubber slug then real buckshot.....
