12 gauge bolt action

my dad has a 12 gauge bolt action and im tryin to find out more about it all it says is germany nitro and the searil number is 1626
 
I guess do a little online research(I had to). What have you found so far? I don't know very much about the brands except Savage, Stevens and my "Sears" brand 12ga. bolt action, which after much research was found to be made by Savage Arms in the late 60's!
 
With the Germany stamp it could be a WW1 Gew98 converted into a shotgun after the war.Post some pics and well be able to tell you right away what it is.
