12 ga heavy brenneke slugs against 45-70?

would heavy 45-70 slugs like the Garnett 535 grain hammerheads and Buffalo bore's various heavy flavors give me any advantage over 1 3/8 oz (600 grain if i did my math right) heavy brenneke slugs at 1450 fps? I am looking for a gun only intended for powder burn ranges against Big Bears.

This is just armchair conjecture,

But I can see advantages both ways.

The 12 gauge slug is pre-expanded to .72 caliber and lets lots of blood out and air in.

On the other hand, the heay .45-70 slugs will penetrate deeper and generally have better accuracy a ranges beyond powderburn range.

Hopefully people with some serious bear experience can give better insight.

Doc tends to be right on the money, and I agree with him here, too.

I have asked Randy Garrett, but he just isn't interested in loading his 530-grain .45 bullet in a 12 gauge...
