1187 vs. 11-48

I have an 11-48 Remmington semi-auto in 12 gauge, that my Dad bought when he was 16 y/o. How does this model differ from the other "11's"? He always told me, "That action is too loud!" Don't ask me what he meant. It has a 'dial-a-choke on it and I have never shot it, usually I shoot Ithaca 37's, or the ol' man's Win 100, 12 gauge. The 100 is sweet, too sweet to hunt with, but I shot a 23 at the trap range with it! Granted its no "100 straight" but it made my day.

11) hump back recoil operated
11-48) round top recoil op.
11-58) round top gas operated - adjustment switch to shoot high or low brass
1100) round top gas operated - shoots high low brass with no adjustment either 2.75 or 3 inch
11-87) shoots 2.75 and 3 inch shells interchagably (sp)

Red, lots of 11-48s are still out there going strong, on their third or fourth owner. Hard to wear out, heck for strong. No 3" capability, but a good field and casual target gun anyway.
