I have just bought a new 1187 magnum 3in shot gun and im having trouble witht the barrel I do not understand where it is susposed to goI have now broken two of them. I have tryed it one the piston seal assemby and with it off the assembly. Any help would be great and also where can you get these things at my local rip off store is selling them for $7.30 a piece that seems redicilous for a o ring.

The O ring should go on after the Piston / Seal assembly. It should fit into the slight indentation around the magazine tube. You should feel the barrel gas cylinder seat when you put the barrel in place.

PS - You can get o rings cheap on ebay, usually 6-10 in a pack.

Once you get it in the right place, one might last forever. I've had the same one on my gun for at least 5 years. Since the gun was used, it could be much older than that.:)

You can sometimes even find a hardware store that sells neoprene washers that will work too. In fact, I woud not be surprised if it wouldn't work without the ring in place. Mine does.

Sure, you can match the ring up with a rubber O-ring at a hardware store. Just take yours along and match them up.

The Remington ring is much better IMHO. The new ones are silver in color and are teflon hybrids. They don't dry rot as quickly, and hold up to heat and cleaners better than rubber. Either will work!

I know a old trap shooter that keeps 2 or 3 spare rings in his wood stock. He puts them in the hole for the stock bolt, and puts the recoil pad back on. Dosent matter where he is...he always has a spare!
