Hello guys. I bought an 11-87 sportsman on 11-1-05 and took it to a Buddy's to shoot and ran around 40 rounds threw it then took it home cleaned it put it all back together then took it out and shot 5 rounds cleaned again and put it up for deer season. Went hunting and killed a buck and it cycled fine. Week later shot at a doe missed tried to shoot again nothing, looked at the receiver and it was open it ejected that round shot a round out of the mag. but it did not try to load. It acts like it just shot its last round. I can release the bolt load gun jack bolt back and it will pick it up and load it but nothing after that other than let another round out of mag. Just wonder if anyone has had this problem and some advise for me. Thanks Jeff

What kind of ammo were you using? It sounds like the rounds you were using aren't generating enough gas pressure to work the action.....mine has done it to (I have an older 11-87) with Winchester slugs but it works fine with any other slug brand

exoduster I am using Brenneke M.P. but they are hot enough to work the action or at least open it and eject that casing but it's like the gun thinks it is empty. I can hit the button on the gate and it will load that next round just fine. I e-mailed Remington Sat. but haven't heard anything from them which you know they will say send it back in since it is the middle of deer season!

I'd be interested to know what happened as well. I had the same thing happen to me 3 times (although with target loads). After I cleareed the problem, the firearm functioned fine.

The only thing that happened to me as well is that sometimes the rounds did not eject all the way. So it may be something with the extractor thingy. That round count is WAY too low to be having gas pressure problems due to fouling. I have gone 200 no cleaning without problems (and then i cleaned it cause i felt like it :D ). Anyway, i don't think its the gas ports/using too light of loads.
When you cleaned it, did you take the bolt out, or just clean the gas tube/action bars?

When I took it out of the box and cleaned it I did not take the bolt out just wiped it down the best I could in there and scrubbed the barrel good stuck it back on and went to range. After about 20 rounds it started hanging up so too barrel back off checked the gas ports and they were nasty put it back together had no problem. Took it home broke it all the way down cleaned the barrel, gas ports, seals, rubber, bolt, trigger then went out shot 5 or so with no problems went hunting and took that buck and it chambered the next round then 7 days latter it just stopped loading. What ever makes it know it has a round on the lift gate ready to load has stopped working. Oh Remington has not got back with me ether. Guess I will just have a one shot 11-87 until after deer season witch is OK because I only have one tag left :)

You were using the Brenneke slugs? They work well in mine. Your bolt goes all the way back anbd locks back in the "last shot, hold open" feature? That's really wierd that it doesn't work right. Instead of emailing Remington, try calling them. Their customer service over the phone is really good. I've called them plenty of times and they have always been courteous and have always fixed the problem. Give them a call. I'm out of ideas.....
