11-87 Police Model.....

I just picked one up. My last defensive shotguns were a Benelli Super90 and a Beretta 1201FP, so maintenance and feeding will vary. What do I need to watch for? TIA

I have a Beretta 1201FP and a 11-87 Police. Because the 11-87 is a gas gun it is less painful to shot. When I got mine there was about a $100 price difference between rifle sights and ghost rings. I picked rifle sights and haven't looked back.

Ammo. According to Remington (and personally confirmed), the police versions are set-up to run hot and heavy. High probability you will experience FTE's with "reduced recoil" or light field loads. Standard 2.75" buck and slug loads work just fine (and your shoulder won't notice either). Some of the heavy field loads will cycle reliably, also.

Over on Shotgun Report there's some info on keeping Rem gas guns working. I suggest reading up and then stocking the O rings, etc.

The few 11-87 Police guns I've seen in use seem to allow fast recovery and they kept on ticking.

I also purchased the same gun last august,
it worked fine until 2 weeks ago, I was
at a tactical shotgun match and the gas
chamber broke off of the barrel. I
called Remington and they said they would
send one out that day, it took 2 weeks
before I recieved a replacement and
it was a shiney gray, not even close to
my flat black barrel, it also was 18 7/8
long and the front rifle sight could be pushed
out with finger pressure!!!
hope yours is a keeper. Relode:mad:

Also remember that the gas guns are more sensitive to getting dirty as compared to inertia guns. Make sure you clean it regularly! HTH,

Justin
