10mm to 45 ACP conversion in Delta Elite ???

Hi guys,

I just came into a bunch of 45 ACP brass and am going to load it over the next couple of weeks. My Kimber is being worked on (upgrade mods by the custom shop - it didn't break ;)).

I shoot a Delta Elite in 10mm and was wondering what would be needed to shoot 45 ACP out of it. I assume a barrel, recoil spring, mag and bushing at least.

Seems like an OK idea, I know the 10mm frames are beefed up and other 1911 conversions are available from many places. I know this isn't exactly the most popular conversion, I'm just looking to shoot up some of my favorite home grown and my Kimber won't be home for another month plus.

Thanks for the info in advance...

Don't think the Mags for 45 will work in the Delta. The Delta mags have a groove that allows them to fit in the delta, 45 mag will not go in.

You are wrong. You need a new top and new magazines. Your breechface is too narrow for the 45 ACP case. The ejector may have to be tweaked or replaced. You also may have feed ramp problems. Why don't you just get a 45 ACP 1911?

These guys know what they are talking about. I just did a 10MM / 38 super conversion. worked OK, but I can guarantee that what you spend for parts will buy you a decent " plain Jane " 45.

I took everyone's advice and bought a 45. A new stainless/alloy XSE Lightweight Commander.

I swore I would never buy a gun, just to reload, but I have (had) so much freebie 45 brass I just couldn't sit there... it was lookin' at me :p

In all, you guys were right in your comments, the cost/hassle factor seemed like a PITA and I needed a new 1911 anyway :D

Thanks for all the feedback...
