10mm Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match

I posted a thread on a 10mm Dilemma I was having when a S&W 1006 came up for sale. I was set on an Elite Elite Match in 10mm as a range gun/safe Queen. The possible purchase of the 1006 went south and I saw it as a sign. I went ahead and ordered the elite match and it came in today!

Ran a few boxes of American Eagle 180gr through it and it's definitely a keeper. Only came with one mag and I thought they came with two?

Some come with one, some with two. It happens for some reason.

Nice gun. I have a 38 Super with the Supersight on it. Great gun and I really should shoot it more.

10mm mags for the witness are particular. I believe you want to get the "black" followers that say something like K10 on them. I know I read a bunch of forums on my 10mm Witness Hunter and the mags that are the new fixed type (again I think the black follower ones) work perfectly.

Great guns the 10mm Witnesses. I have one now and sold my original. I kind of regret it every now and again but the Witness hunter is a better gun for the 10mm.

Edited to correct that you want black followers not red. I knew red was important. Just the wrong way.

The Match comes with only one mag. You want the K10 mags but they come with black followers not red. Or just get Mec-Gar. They make the factory K10 mags anyway.

Was that you at Miami valley shooting grounds today?
Yup I sure was picking up the Witness! Great bunch of guys there. Honest people with fair prices. My go to place for whatever I need. Little farther down the road for me now though since I moved.

Roger that. To be honest I thought they changed something at EAA when I saw one Mag because there are a few open box reviews and they stated two mags. But no big deal. I can order one.

Also I have the Red Ones with K10 on them. Thanks for the tips.

Those are the Long Slide versions right? I see that they go up in degrees and cost. I didn't want the standard steel version. I wanted the upgraded trigger. Thought about the Stock I or Stock II versions but I was happy with the color scheme and trigger and couldn't justify the extra cost for a range gun at the moment. However that may change in time! :D

When I bought my Witness Stock 10mm, it came with one mag. The mag it came with was a beautifully polished chromed mag. I wanted to order more of the chromed mags, but you only get the one that comes with the gun. I called up EAA and ordered 3 spare 10mm magazines from them and got them in 2 days. While these magazines were not chrome, they were beautifully polished and finished blued magazines - got the aluminum base plates too. I use those and store the chrome one.

I hope you enjoy your Witness as much as I enjoy mine. My Stock and Sig X-Five are my favorite guns to shoot.

FWIW, even though I'd like to have a S&W 1006 as a collector's piece, if it came down to it, I'd never give up my Stock for the 1006. While the 3rd gen smiths are rugged and reliable, they aren't nearly as refined as the Witness 10mm's.

I think I will and I have shot an X-5 and it was a pleasure. Really DOB accurate too. Range master at my favorite (not so local anymore) LGS is a sig guy. Retired competition and a great shot has the x-5 (among many others :D). He is all out Sig and I can't blame him. They are great pistols.

Great pistol! How is your trigger on that one? Mine is super-light.
Very smooth. Not sure of weight pull exactly. I think it seems lighter than it actually is due to the smooth trigger. I recon the Match's are built to be competition grade triggers and from what I have seen they are.

What my trigger observations are: The straighter/less crescent shaped SA trigger feels right. Can detect any measurable pretravel in the trigger. The pull to break is very light and short and the reset real short and you can both hear and feel it well.

The Stock is DA/SA. What impresses me the most about the Stock is that of all DA/SA pistols I've ever had the opportunity to shoot and/or play with, the stock is by far the best trigger in SA mode. It is very very close to that of a single action only pistol. In fact I would like to find used a Witness Stock in 9mm for a good price.

You know I never see any of the nicer 10mm Tanfoglio's up for sale on Armslist. I am always browsing even state wide for different pistols and had been keeping an aye out a little closely for 5 monthes now. Never use Gun Broker.

Yep. That was me. I'll tell ya that gun you got is way prettier than a 1006. Good choice.
Thanks. Did you get you an AR?

I had bought one earlier that day. Got a colt 6920 magpul at jj gun supply. Was in there to see if they had any 9mm ARs and checking ammo prices. Played hooky from work and went to the range and 6 gun shops!! Great day for me!
