10mm Para Ordnance? What?

What's this I keep hearing about 10mm Para Ordnance 1911s? Is there a conversion or something out there? Somebody please fill me in here. What other pistols out there can be converted to 10mm, seeing as how the only factory hanguns in 10mm are the Colt Delta Elite, the Glock 20, the EAA Witness, , and the S&W 610 revolver.

Apparently, Para-Ordnance offered the P10 in 10mm in 1998 only.

Their smallest, lightest pistol in the hottest caliber they've ever offered; I don't know what the reasoning was behind that.

The Para-Ordinance P16-40 can easily be converted to 10mm.

How? I suspect it means putting in a new barrel with a longer chamber. Where does one get such a barrel? Is a heavier recoil spring reqired? Where do you get the recoil spring?

You could just ream the .40 barrel with a reamer from www.brownells.com but a new barrel is the best way to go so you can always go back to the .40. I bought a Kimber in .40 and converted it with a Schuemann barrel and a 24# spring from Wolff. I am going out on a limb here but you will not find a drop in barrel in 10mm. I have also heard the Para 10mm rumor but I am pretty sure it's just that. They gotta webiste, perhaps send them an e-mail or call direct?

Okay, Para "had" a few 10mm conversion a few years ago. Jack at Practicalshooting.com told me this.

I do have a Para-Ordnance P16 duo-tone that I have converted to 10mm with an Ed Brown drop in barrel. I "rasied" the recoil spring to 24lb (the 26lb springs caused serious set back problems with certain ammo) and the mag springs have been replaced to +10%. Oh yeah, those are Wolff Springs.

I have had no problems so far with the pistol in either caliber.
