I was able to get quickload to match the velocity of my 45-70 loads and 44 mag within 20 fps by increasing the case water volume. With revolvers, I have heard it has to do with the cylinder gap acting like a longer case before the bullet engages the rifling. Also, I had to adjust the start pressure.
So....then you should wonder just how accurate my quickload pressure estimate actually is given all the exaggerations I had to make to get it to approximate the velocity.
What I have noticed is that less tweaking is necessary in short pistol cases like 40 S&W or 9mm than in 44 mag. I think it has been said numerous times that QL is best used on bottle neck cartridges. For pistols I actually trust the reloading manuals and powder makers data a lot more than quickload.
