10mm Carbine

Maybe this is off the "handgun" subject, but I always thought the 10mm round would have been great in a carbine, a la an M1 carbine configuration. It would give popularity to the round and improved firepower for defense or hunting. That, plus the S & W Model 610 revolver, would make a useful combination when afield.

Comments appreciated.

I have a comment,
S&W sucks.

But the 10mm carbine sounds like a great idea, just make sure it can accept G20 magazines.

I have an early Oly Arms 10mm CAR. It is gas operated, & is accurate & reliable with any reasonable (& most unreasonable) 10mm loads. It shoots 200+ grn bullets with AA#9 best. I have 20 rd Oly mags (converted Uzi 41AE mags) which work flawlessly, and some Dalphon 32 rd mags (converted Sten?) which seem flimsy to me, but have never failed. The G20 mags will not fit into an ARs mag well, so that's out. I have 1st run 610's in both barrel lenghts, but I feel the Glock is the better companion for the CAR-15/10. I heard that a company called LA Mag does/did conversions to 10mm on the M1 Carbine, but I've never been able to get thru to them at the number I had.

Was that number 810 634 1312? I was also curious if they could find a way to put a 7.62x39mm in an M1 Carb, but a 10mm will do, I suppose...

Your talking about the Famous MP10 ala Rainbow Six... Its actually an MP5 Chambered form 10MM that HK did special for the FBI.

I think they've got the new batch (sorry, not up on model numbers of the HK line) of the grey-looking carbines/SMGs in 10mm as well. I know they've got a .45 version. They look funky to me with the 16" barrel though.

Funky or not, they handle really nice for a Clintonized gun. The only mistake they made was with that damn single-stack magazine they use on the USC. I haven't heard word of a 10mm version but it stands to reason. How about a 400 CorBon one?

Checked out the catalog. It's the UMC by HK. Catalog only showed a .45 though the 10mm probably makes a little more sense in a "carbine".

I would like to see something like the PC9 in 10mm that would accept glock mags. 10 rounds of 10mm, 16 inch barrel, between 5-6 pounds, ghost ring sights, and durable. Might make a nice truck gun.
