1000 yard 308 load?

Has anyone here tried the Lapua Scenar L out to a 1000 yards.
Building a 1000 yard load, and out of my barrel the 175 wil be sub sonic at that range, interested to know of other 308 1k shooeters's findings on this particular bullet, and what else works for them.
Thanks

Guess I didn't realie that. Have always used the 175 smk, but they're getting harder to come by over here, and thought I'd try something new.
Thanks!

That's what I used for awhile until I moved up to the Hornady 178gr BTHP Match bullet. Better BC. My match load I run 2681, and they work pretty good.

yes Palma- I shot FTR one year before I had to admit to myself that I can't shoot off a bi pod for squat. Had a SSS custom Dog Tracker Stock made for it and all.
Oh well-Live and learn:D Switched to F Class and am having a blast now

That's half the fun...learning.

I tried 155's when I first started FTR, and the 175's and up are a lot easier I've learned at bucking a crosswind. Lol

Should have seen my scores. Ouch! Lol

Really doesn't matter if a target bullet is subsonic at 1,000. Isn't doing anything but poking a hole in paper. Although there's lots of discussion about stability below 1300 FPS.
"...yes Palma-..." With one of those fancy, big, heavy, iron sighted, single shots? Just curious.

jrowland77 is correct. My son uses them in his AR10, accuracy load is 2680 mv which gives him 1143 fps at 1000 (according to the computer, anyway...)

There are guys that shoot 16" bbl. .308's to 1K with that bullet successfully.

Sure does. Usually matters more what happens when it goes transonic- many bullets don't behave well making the transition.

If you want to experiment, try the 155's. Sierra also has new TMK bullets which mol mimic the Hornady Amax with polymer tips.

T.O., long bullets for their caliber change their direction when they start into the transonic speed band. They can easily change their path when at 800 to 900 yards and go several MOA off course by the time they get to 1000 yards. People shooting Palma matches with 168's in M14's see about 1 MOA accuracy at 800 yards degrade to 2 or more MOA at 1000.

Same problem with 7.62 NATO M80 round's 147-gr bullets required in the British Commonwealth's full bore matches. They switched from 22 or 24 inch barrels to 30 inch or more. Those light bullets stayed supersonic through 1000 yards leaving 200 fps faster.
