10 gauge slug ???

well I personaly have never seen a 10 gauge slug, but I have seen 4 bore slugs and even 2 bore slugs.

anyone make or ever made a 10 gauge rifled slug gun, & slugs... or are 12 gauge as big as the slug guns go ???

I can't say about the rifled slug guns, I do have 3 boxes of 10ga slugs at home. 1 box I picked up among some other 10ga shells (including 2 boxes of the old 2 3/4 inch 10ga shells) at a local auction. The other 2 boxes I found when Galyan's (sp?) sporting goods was bought out by Dicks sporting goods and was closing out alot of their products before the changeover. I was shocked to see those 2 boxes sitting on a shelf and I just couldn't stop myself from grabbing them.

There's several of the 10ga Slugs next to my Ithaca Mag 10 in the picture below. I've never actually shot slugs in it and don't really have any plans to do so. I will have to wait until I get home to check for the brand

well my thoughts here would be a dangerous game firearm... & or hunting of large game...

I found that Remington offers the SP-10 as an auto, in a turkey configuration with a shorter barrel & rifle sights, & a thumbhole stock... I'm not sure of the choke, & if it's conductive to rifled slugs, & or even if rifled slugs are available...

for this type of gun's use, a bolt action would be perfect... as a plus, a rifled barrel would be nice, as a guy could cast a harder slug if needed... mmmm... a Barns copper 10 gauge slug ???

sounds hard on the shoulder already...;)

curious as to whats out there ( wouldn't want to reinvent the wheel ), & what could be done legally with in ATF rules

MIKE... thats the gun... now if I could find a rifled 10 Gauge barrel...

I ilike that the Marlin is clip fed, but the auto system of that Remington would likely suck up a good portion of the recoil, & the thumbhole stock adds lots of  but also might turn out to be a thumb breaker on a gun like that ????

This gun was carried but a very few times and fired even less. Includes a leather carry strap FAC.Excellent with detachable sling swivels, all original, what a nice cannon.

I find this part of the description to be quite amusing for some reason :)

Before I got the Ithaca I had one of the H&R single shot 10ga and that was pretty brutal with just standard shells. I didn't have quite enough guts to try it with a Slug.

My Ithaca on the other hand isn't that bad to shoot. To me it doesn't really kick much worse than my 12ga autoloader but I think alot of that can be attributed to the fact that the gun itself weighs considerably more.

HD

The perfect HD device, a 10 gauge slug! A person could cut there readily available ammo down to ten or twenty rounds instead of fifty.;)

Federal makes the slugs still.
The SP-10 barrel with rifle sights has the removable choke so you could put a Modified choke in to try out the slug with.

I'm still trying to determine whether you people are masochists or gluttons for punishment. 10 ga. slugs? OWWY. I shot a 3 1/2 inch 10 bore when I was a teen on a dare, and if I can't get it done with a 12, it walks or flies away. 1 3/4 oz. at 1500 fps. is NOT what I call fun shooting. Just my $0.02. CB.

yeap...10ga slugs.....ARE YOU NUTS??? I sho0t 3 inch 12ga Hornady SST slugs and they HURT. And i dont know of an animal in south Louisiana that would need a 10ga slug to take down.. But then again bigger is better..

I keep my 20" AYA coach gun loaded with Federal 10ga slugs, it's hidden where I can reach it with my hands held in the air!:D
I actually shot a dozen of those things and they kick bad in the 9 pound gun, but not THAT bad. They kick almost exactly like a .470 Nitro BTW, which is close to a .458 Winchester but a smidgen less.;)

Well fall turkey season started this week and I'm looking forward to getting out in the woods with my 10ga (haven't gotten a chance yet thanks to work). No slugs, #4 shot only. My reccomendation is to get one of the Autos if you go for a 10ga, it soaks up alot of that recoil.

I load 10 ga. 3 1/2" brass cases from rocky mtn. cartridges, my own 1000gr lead bullet at 1500 fps. and have had great sucess on deer and elk.
