Ok,

I have been shooting my stock/blued 10/22 this whole summer and am amazed at its accuracy. Seeing how I have more fun with this gun than any others I have come up with the idea that I want to trick it out this winter a little at a time.

The first couple things I want to grab for it are.

1. A nice wooden thumb holed stock os some kind.

2. A nice heavy bull target barrel.

3. some high cap magazines for it, ones with a good track record.

What would be your recomendations on any of the above and where would be the best place to get them? Any info you can give is appreciated.

Thanks a million!

Hogue (www.getgrip.com) sells a nice fluted bull barrel, and their stock is excellent as well. There are some graphite wrapped barrels also you might want to check out also.

Oh, don't forget to get a trigger job, the original one is way too heavy, trigger improves your accuracy quite a bit.

ButtlerCreek makes a nice Heavy barrel and stock combo, with a bipod hidden within the stock. Really accurate and light weight. Price is about $180.
As for mags ButtlerCreek did make hi-cap mags when legal, if you can get your hads on one of those you'll be extremely happy with the money you had to put down for them.

P.S. All talked about I've tested and own.And very happy!

Uh, I'd hold off on that Mitchell. It was one of the mags a friend and I tested in our 10/22s and it was less than average.

In order to load the mag, you have to attach and crank this detachable orange handle to the drive sprocket while feeding the rounds. The handle can be seen in the photo inside of the mag in its storage place. In order to get to and put back the handle, you have to remove the back of the mag.

When fully loaded and cranked, the rounds had a misfeed rate similar to the Ramlines. (The 25 and 50 round Ramlines we had tested ran okay for the very first 2-3 magfulls then after that, numerous feed failures.) When approaching the end of the magazine, the final 2-3 rounds would not feed as the springloaded treadmill did not have enough tension to cycle the rounds to the feedlips of the magazine. If you lose the crank handle you are SOL.

I am very surprised at the very low costs of those Butler Creek mags. 25 round HotLips I have seen from $50-$75 (highest was $125). The prices are so low that I question if it is legit. If it is, get the BC's fast.

I have to admit that my Mitchell 50rd mag did not work 100% at first. However, for the past year, she now feeds 100% until around 350-500 rounds have been used. Then its time for a so-so cleaning. And she is good to go again! Also, I belive spare parts for it are available at http://www.mountsplus.com/50rd.html

Walter, I linked to the high cap site you listed and the prices were definitly right. You have to email the guy to find out how to order - he replied as "Kevin Fehler in Moose Jaw, SK Canada." Ramline 50 $80 - Steel lips $53. Have you ordered from him? I've been burnt before ordering by mail - sending money to Canada causes even more concern. Anybody have any experiences with Kevin? Thanks, Bill.
