hi folks. i want to change my ruger .22 from the factory carbine barrel to a longer fluted bull barrel. hopefuly this will improve accuracy. I know that the factory twist rate is 1:16 . some barrels are advertised as 1:9. Would the .22lr benefit as far as accuracy from a faster twist rate? would it make any difference? or could this invite other problems that i do not forsee?

No.

would it make any difference?
Yes.
The 1:9 twist is for shooting the 60gr 22lr rounds. I think Aquila makes them. If you intend to shoot 38-40gr 22lr rounds stick with the 1:16 twist.

I shot some of those 60gr subsonics yesterday and they went all over the place at 25 yards!(stock barrel) but the 10/22 cycled every one of them just like all my rugers:D

Exactly. They should feed and fire but the slow 1:16 twist fails to stabilize the heavy 60 grain bullet. Do not know if the tighter 1:9 twist will stabilize the standard lighter 38-40 grain bullets. I think I have read that it will not. Anyone know this?
