10,000 new Makarov's about to enter the good-ole USA!

The Makarov's have landed

Hi I 'm a dealer in Florida. I've got the Brand New Unissued Bulagrian Makarov's available. They are only $159 each and come with a nice blue finish, fixed sights, 2 8 round mags, 2 sets of grips and a leather holster. A reliable and very nice little gun. Everyone should own at least 2. Feel free to write me at val7@tampabay.rr.com or call me at 727-733-1234 to place your order. Thanks Val. Come and get em......

ok let's move this over to the Gouging Forum :D

My NIB Circle 10 was $129.95, they'll be $200 each before the summer's out, it's a crying shame I tell ya.

I couldn't wait on the 10,000. I ordered a Bulgarian from Ammoman.com several weeks ago. It was a bit high - $169 but shipping was included and the FFL is a friend of mine so there weren't any other charges.

I got it on Thursday and it is exactly what I expected - unissued military Bulgarian. Can't wait to get it cleaned up, has cosmoline smeared all over it. Will make a good companion to my EG Mak. Interestingly, Ammoman.com decided to stop carrying guns not long after I ordered and the Maks they had ran out too.

In my research of trying to find the above, I found most of the major dealers like J&G, SOG, AIM, etc. were out of Maks although some like SOG still listed them on their website as available even though they said they were out when I called.
A place called KY Imports has some supposedly NIB Arsenal commercial Maks for $149. Not sure if that includes shipping.

After reading this thread I looked at the Mak I bought last week. Used, no box just gun, $100. Sure enough left side of gun has two concentric circles with 10 in center. I bought it cause I been wanting a Mak and finish on this one is very nice even deep blue. What do I have here? I'm a 1911/BHP guy and know zero about Maks. It appears unfired.

Speaking of Maks ...

A friend has a Bulgarian Mak in excellent condition (looked unfired), and a whole bunch of mags to go with it.

He's interested in having it customized a bit, i.e., trigger and throating work, maybe new sights, etc. He came across some guy's website (Jeff Beneze?) called Beast Enterprises, and wanted to know about the quality of the guy's work from any Mak owners who've sent their pistols to him. Apparently the guy offers some type of Mak "package."

I told my friend I'd pass along his question to the Mak experts here.

Thanks in advance for the help. :)

Popeye, you've got one of the "military surplus"Bulgarians.I have one as well as the commercial "arsenal" stamped model.I prefer the circle 10 as i like to think it has a little history behind it even if its all in my head.

If anyone knows of dealers that have some of these "10,000" let me know. CDNN? SOG? CIA? When people start carrying them at reasonable prices post here... Also curious if they are mil-surp or new commercial. Interested minds want to know... Right now I only have a Russian commerical model (adj. sights) which I love and want to get another...

Some info on Makarovs

Seems as if the one post about new Maks are coming into the country is correct. I just saw the new offering by a wholesaler of "New Unissued" Maks with the dealer price of $134 and a case of 864 for $89/each. Also they offer 3 or more for $129/each. Seems the prices are going up. :( The flier didn't say the country of origin, but I would bet it would be Bulgaria. Keep the faith guys.

Bulgarian Makarovs

This is Val from Gulfstream Sports. I wanted to extend my apologies for jumping the gun on offering the Makarovs. They did not arrive when expected. Each and every one of the many who have responed to my offering will be personally notified when I get them.
I assure you they will be provided exactly as promised and I sincerely regret the unexpected delay in receiving them. Thanks for understanding and I'll keep you posted. val7@tampabay.rr.com

I heard Geoff from BEAST had cancer and was behind in his work b/c of chemo.

This could add up to another Brian Bilby situation, where a 'smith is sick and dies in the middle of his work, though I'd take my chances since it would be unethical to deny someone their livelihood b/c they're sick. Hell, they could get hit by a bus and die, too, and no one ever thinks about that.

'01 GSR:

Thanks for the feedback.

My Mak friend found the guy's website, and then did an extensive search over on one of the Mak boards for comments, concerns, complaints, etc.

Apparently the guy does do pretty good work - generalizing from the comments - but his turn-around time sucks, at least from customers who were led by the guy's statements to expect much shorter periods for completion of the "package" Mak-work. Yes, the problem is/was apparently health-related. Some on the Mak board were still waiting for their guns, a bit fearful of how they're going to get them back if he dies suddenly with X number of guns in his shop in various stages of completion. Apparently he's not real good at returning e-mails or phone messages.

Anyway, for now, my friend has decided to hold off, although he's still interested in a trigger job and better sights. He really likes this little gun.

Hi, I had a new front sight installed on my mak at beast enterprises. The sight came out just fine. I have a russian mak that had the serial number lazer etched into the frame. I refinished the gun and basicly the number disappered from the bead blast. While beast had the mak I had Geoff put the number back. Well he must of been having a bad day because where he was supposed to stamp a "P" he put a "B" then restamped the "P" over the "B". Then he got a 3 backwards so you can imagine what the serial number looked like when I got the pistol back. Mark

Lost ad for Makarov

Tony: I just found the place that was making the offering on the Maks, the name is Kiesler's Wholesale, 888-543-7537. Hope this helps you. Oh there is no website shown. Good luck. :)
