upon reassembly of my ruger 10-22, i came across a rubber o ring, very small in size, and have no clue as to where it came from. i removed the barrel and trigger assembly but no other parts were removed. where does this o ring go? if it even has an o ring.

I routinely tinker with these and have never run across one that has a small "O"-ring. Now, in other applications, O-rings are uses to retain or keep threaded machine screws from falling out of stocks. If this sounds like a SWAG, it is !!! ;)
Just put it in a drawer and perhaps in the future, it might be revieled where it came from. Happens a lot !!! :)

lol thanks, as this was my first complete disassembly with no nothing to go by. i didnt remember removing an O ring but does not hurt to ask. thanks for the info

Thats why they make and issue owners manuals with products. Most will have a blow up showing internal parts. But we are real men and throw those pesky manuals in the draw or away. We don't need them, we know all.

I agree that it probably came from the takedown screw. Some 10/22s have a habit of shaking the screw loose, so the O-ring is to reduce the vibrations.
