1-6 or 1-8x optic

I’m thinking of picking up a Primary Arms optic for my AR. I shoot out to ~100-150 yds. I currently use a red dot, but figured I could use the variable for magnification.

Any suggestions are welcome.

1-6 is more than enough for that distance.

If you are target shooting at 150 yards I'd get the eight. If some other purpose get the six.

A 1-4X will get you to at least 300 yards for large game or SD roles. More magnification would help if more precision is needed for smaller targets like varmints. Or if you need to shoot well past 300. A 1-4X will likely be less expensive if of equal quality.

Any of them on 1X will out perform your red dot up close and in poor light.

The 1-6 will be plenty of magnification for that range. I use a 5x and a 3x on my C308 and AR, respectively. No issues seeing targets out to 500+ yds. Hitting, well that's on me, but if I do my part, then they are more than good enough.
